Lexmark Express

Capture paper documents into archives

Lexmark is the market leader in professional and production batch scanning. Lexmark Express delivers on its commitment to a first-rate user experience supported by a user-friendly interface. It features the full Microsoft Office 2007 and SmoothViewTM technology, allowing for easy page moving and zooming. The unique visual representation of documents and pages cannot be found anywhere else.

VRS is fully integrated into Lexmark Express; all VRS features are available directly from the Lexmark Express user interface. You can also use VRS correction settings to adjust the image quality after scanning. Important scanner features such as color drop out and multifeed settings are also available.
Lexmark Express is the only batch scanning application that supports the running of VRS on multi-core computers for maximum performance and rated speed scanning.

Intuitive and User Friendly Interface
Lexmark Express utilizes the same interface as Microsoft Office 2007 applications, with the most commonly used commands and features readily accessible from a ribbon bar atop the screen. Scanner operators can keep their eyes on their work and easily invoke numerous Lexmark Express features with a single click of the mouse, resulting in quicker adoption and greater productivity gains.
Highest Image Quality
Innovative SmoothView™ technology enables you to manipulate multiple document images with ease. Find, replace, gather, zoom, divide, rotate, swap, order and place document images in ways you never could imagine with a stack of paper. Also, with the included Lexmark VRS, your images will look better than their paper originals without any pre-scan document preparation or fiddling with scanner controls.
Bar Code Capabilities
The enhanced bar code engine in Lexmark Express can read most commonly used 1D and 2D bar codes, even those obscured with stamps, handwriting or coffee cup stains. Scanning in colour improves accuracy further, allowing flawless decoding of bar codes at low resolutions (100 or 150 dpi). Lexmark Express detects bar codes wherever they are placed on a page, even when they are skewed at angles.
Watched Folder
Lexmark Express automatically processes images (TIFF, BMP, JPEG and PDF) uploaded to a watched folder as if they had been delivered from a scanner. This feature enables Lexmark Express to process images from sources such as MFPs, faxes and saved images, giving you a single interface to your back-end repository for all images from all sources.
Searchable PDF
The Searchable PDF feature includes live text with PDF images, enabling users to easily and accurately search for information in PDF documents.
Image Compression
Image compression captures crisp, clear color images while delivering the small file size of black and white images, allowing quicker downstream processing and improved process efficiency.
Background Export
Background Export goes hand in hand with Searchable PDF and image compression. By processing these file types in the background, the scan operator can continue to scan productively in the foreground. Background export is also useful for large standard PDF or TIFF exports.
Database Lookup
With the Database Lookup feature, the value entered in one index field triggers a database search to fill the other fields automatically, accelerating the indexing task while delivering greater accuracy.
Point-and-Click Rescan
When a page is scanned with a folded corner, or a forgotten sticky note still affixed, or a double-feed that escaped detection, there is no choice but to rescan. In these instances, the "Point and- Click Rescan” option makes the process as painless as possible by inserting the rescanned document in the correct position in the batch without rescanning the entire batch.
Flexible Document Separation
Lexmark Express can separate groups of documents automatically, eliminating the need to scan documents one at a time. Just fill your auto document feeder (ADF) to its capacity and Lexmark Express will divide the batch into individual document groups automatically based on patch codes, bar codes or inserted blank pages. Lexmark Express allows you to process documents faster than ever before by keeping your scanner in continuous operation while it handles the separation chores for you.
Post-Scan Processing with VRS Corrections
If Lexmark Express encounters a poor quality document it can't convert into a legible image, it doesn't shut down the scanner and wait for a fix. Instead, its VRS Corrections feature reserves the image for later inspection and correction by the scanner operator without needing to rescan the document. Lexmark Express retains enough information from the original that the operator can manually correct the image after scanning completion, allowing the scanner to run without pause.
Visual Undo History
Everyone relies on the Undo button. But undo enough steps and it's easy to lose track of where you've come from, what was undone and what can be redone safely. That's why Lexmark Express includes a Visual Undo History feature that shows the sequence of processes that were done – or undone – on any document image.
Export to Other Systems
A captured document image isn't much use unless it can be saved in an accessible format and retrieved easily. That's why in addition to single page (JPEG, TIFF, PDF) and multi-page (TIFF, PDF) format options, Lexmark Express can also smoothly export documents to Microsoft SharePoint or Lexmark Capture. Advanced users can create other export options through a publicly available API.
Optimised for High Performance
Lexmark Express was designed to take full advantage of the latest processing technologies in your computer. By enabling multiple scan and image processing functions to run simultaneously, Lexmark Express drives your scanner at rated speed, resulting in the highest throughput possible.
